This information will help you to deal with Onyx Finance Ltd and its staff and in deciding which financial adviser best suits your needs. It provides information about Onyx Finance that you may find useful.

What sort of adviser is Onyx Finance?

Onyx is a Registered Financial Service Provider and a Creditor (within the meaning of the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003).  Onyx provides Loans, Loan Protection and GAP Insurance. Insurance products are underwritten by Protecta Insurance.

What should you do if something goes wrong?

If you have a problem, concern, or complaint about Onyx Finance’s services, please tell either the Onyx Finance staff member you are dealing with or the Managing Director of Onyx Finance so that Onyx can try to fix the problem.

You may initiate Onyx Finance’s internal complaints procedure by writing to The Managing Director, Onyx Finance Ltd, PO Box 1714, Palmerston North 4440.

If we cannot agree on how to fix the issue, or if you decide not to use our internal complaints procedure, you can contact Financial Services Complaints Ltd (FSCL). This service will cost you nothing and will help us resolve any disagreements.

How is Onyx Finance regulated by the Government?

You can check that Onyx is a registered as a Financial Service Provider at www.business.govt.nz/fsp and searching 158745. The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) regulates financial service providers. You can also contact the FMA for more information, including financial tips and warnings at www.fma.govt.nz.

You can report information or complain about the conduct of Onyx Finance Ltd to the FMA, but in the event of a disagreement, you may choose to first use the dispute resolution procedures described above under What should you do if something goes wrong?.
